Village staff began working to repair a water main break on Garth Road early on Friday, March 1.

According to the Scarsdale Water Department, certain homes and other properties along Garth Road and nearby areas, including the Village Center and portions of the Crane-Berkely-In Scarsdale, Overhill, Drake-Edgewood, and Sherbrooke Park neighborhoods, have been experiencing discolored water throughout the day.

One building on Garth Road in Eastchester is also experiencing service interruption, though no others are expected during the duration of the repair, officials noted.

The Water Department noted that the water is safe for drinking and cooking, but should not be used to wash clothes until the discoloration has cleared. The repairs on the broken water main are expected to last late into the night.

“Estimates suggest that water discoloration, if not already clear, should be clearing by early this evening,” they noted. “In order to expedite that process, consider allowing your water in your home or business to run for a short period of time in order to clear the lines. If it does not clear, try again later.”
